Curriculum Framework

Preschool at Domuschola | Preschool in Manila

Domuschola’s preschool program provides a nurturing and fun environment for young children ages 3 to 4 years old. The school follows a play-based and inquiry-based curriculum in preparation for the Primary Years Programme starting in Kinder.

The holistic development of each child and equipping them with the skills and foundation for future learning and in preparation for Primary Years is of utmost importance.

Through play and experience, children learn about the world and taking risks. They gain confidence and are encouraged to discover and interact socially.

Patterned from the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP), an international curriculum designed framework for children ages 3 – 12 years, we implement the best research and practices from a range of national systems from across the globe.

Since preschool is a child’s first experience in school, our goal is to instill in children their love for learning by making learning fun. At the center of the units investigated in class are the children’s interests and ideas. Our dedicated teachers carefully plan the activities and resources used to inspire and ignite the children’s imagination, enthusiasm and creativity.

Teachers allow children to engage in activities at their own level of development at a particular time. When children demonstrate readiness, teachers deeply commit themselves in encouraging the children to move on to a higher level of functioning by providing them with proper questions, support, or additional materials. Teachers foster children’s own interests by presenting them with the kinds of materials or experiences that aspire to increase the knowledge or feelings of competence and self-esteem. In this way, every child is able to develop fully according to his own interests and capabilities.

Daily routines are integral aspects of the curriculum. Young children are actively engaged in several activities, hence putting order into their varied surroundings necessitate order. Daily routines such as playing, dressing up, using the toilet, and other life skills are as important as planned activities in the classroom.

Children can explore the materials, use them to solve problems, develop skills, increase knowledge, or be creative in many ways. These help children solidify their abilities at one level and be ready to move on to the next. All activities are developmentally appropriate for the age level of the children by taking into account the different pace at which children develop and mature.
